Chris Niemeyer (*1973 in Zurich) studied film at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires from 1992 until 1994. Subsequently, he began his studies in film/video at the University of Arts (Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst) in Zurich which he graduated from in 1999. His thesis film “Timing” was nominated for the Max-Ophuls-Award in 2000 and his short film “Las Pelotas” won multiple prizes, such as the Pardino d’Oro in Locarno (best Swiss short) in 2009. Since then, Niemeyer has directed a number of fictional series, including “Tag und Nacht” and “Der Bestatter”. His most recent directorial work was for the French speaking RTS-series “La Chance De Ta Vie”, which first aired in 2021.
In 2003 Chris Niemeyer founded the film production company Plan B Film GmbH together with HC Vogel, producing commercials and feature films. With Plan B Film Niemeyer has created numerous commercials and has received awards for several of them. He is the director of the Galaxus campaign “Voll das Leben” and has shot commercials for Durgol, Bio Suisse, Emmentaler, Migros, digitec and Edelweiss, among many other clients.
